BRENNAN - Charles F. Esq. passed onto Heaven on the 7th of February, 2011. Joining in eternity his wife Madge, his brother James, and so many of his friends and loved ones who have passed before him.
Leaving his brother Jack Brennan of Ewing, N.J., his daughter Kate Taylor and her husband James, his grandchildren Meghan, Timothy, and Maureen of Sayville, N.Y. His son Charles and daughter in law Monique of Highland, N.Y.
Many friends and co workers will grieve his passing. Born and raised in Queens, N.Y. he was a graduate of Xavier High School ('51) Fordham College ('55) and Fordham Law School ('61). Master's degree in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research.
He was a damn proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Many will recall his long and active practice in both the law and the Democratic Party. As a criminal and civil litigator he argued cases in the federal courts, state courts of New York, appeals in New York Court of Appals, Appellate Division, Second and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
His most notable cases were as plaintiff s counsel in a four month trial in the Southern District of N.Y. (Socialist Workers' Party .v. Attorney General), and as lead plaintiffs' counsel in a ten month civil jury trial in Nassau Supreme Court. (Musinski, .v. HarranTransportation Company, Inc.)
His academic career included Associate Professor, Adjunct Professor, full time Associate Professor, Business Law, Graduate School of Professional Accountancy, C.W. Post College. 1974 – 1986 and as Visiting Professor, U.S. Military Academy, West Point in1981.
He served as President of the Nassau County Legal Aid Society from 1992-1994 and was a member of the Board of Directors from 1987-2004. Engaged in a political career spanning twenty five years in Queens and Nassau counties, he was elected to the New York Constitutional Convention in 1966 from 7th Senatorial District, Queens County and was the Democratic candidate for Congress, 4th Congressional District, Nassau County in 1980.
